What is ICF Mentor Coaching

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines mentor coaching as a “collaborative process where coaches receive feedback based on observed sessions to refine their skills and style in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies.” Mentor Coaching is a collaborative journey designed to enhance your coaching capabilities that goes beyond checking boxes. You can learn more about the mentor coaching requirements for both ACC and PCC certifications on the ICF website.

As ICF Mentor Coaches, we follow the ICF competencies to guide our work with you, ensuring the experience is based on evidence-based practice. We provide coaches pursuing ACC and PCC credentials with detailed, actionable feedback on both their strengths and areas for growth. Through comprehensive session reviews and targeted competency development, we help you not just meet ICF standards—but embody them in your unique coaching approach. Our packages include everything you need from the first session to successful credentialing, with no hidden fees or add-on surprises.

Would you like to verify or improve your coaching skills, and aren’t interested in an ICF credential? We can help.

Experiencing GCS ICF Mentor Coaching

Mentor coaching is essential for developing and demonstrating the coaching competencies required for your desired credential. It fosters growth through constructive feedback and reflective practice over an extended period, typically at least 3 months.

Our ICF Mentor Coaching is available to coaches at Associate Certified Coach (ACC) and Professional Certified Coach (PCC) levels, and is required for both ICF credentialing and renewal. Whether you’re just starting or preparing for your next level, mentor coaching can help you grow continuously. View the ICF Credential Comparison Table for a list of all requirements.

What to expect from Mentor Coaching with GCS

  • Observation and Feedback: We listen to your recorded coaching sessions and provide detailed feedback and clear developmental pathways grounded in the ICF Core Competencies. This feedback fosters skill enhancement, helping you better serve your clients.
  • Extended Learning Cycle: Mentor coaching isn’t a one-off event. It spans at least three months, offering ample time to absorb feedback, reflect on it, and implement improvements in your coaching practice.
  • Continuous Support: Our mentor coaches are available for questions and guidance between sessions, so you can ask us questions as they come up.
  • Group and Individual Mentor Coaching: We offer both group and one-on-one sessions.
ACC: For those on the Portfolio Path,  ICF requires 10 hours of mentor coaching over a minimum of three months. Out of the 10 hours, three must be one-on-one sessions. Reviews:

“I’m an Executive and Career Coach and I connected with Stacey Bevill through the International Coaching Federation (ICF) for mentor coaching. I connected with Stacey because she has extensive experience coaching business professionals and is one of the most credentialed coaches I have encountered when it comes to coaching assessments.

I gained many key takeaways through Stacey’s mentor coaching that were beneficial in growing my coaching skills and optimizing my coaching practice and tools. She exposed me to many coaching assessments that I was not familiar with and helped me understand and navigate the benefits of each as I continue to strategize on what tools to utilize with my clients. Through listening to my coaching recordings, she identified areas of opportunities and gave concrete examples of how I could take my coaching to the next level, encompassing the whole of the person, emotions, and that which is often unspoken. I took away many new coaching questions as examples to probe deeper and get behind the surface words.

Stacey helped me in an area I was looking for clarity on –maintaining boundaries between coaching and consulting when clients are seeking direct advice. Finally, she left me inspired to continue to stretch myself to grow personally and professionally and further understand what work I feel called to do most. I am grateful for Stacey’s coaching as I continue my coaching journey with much reflection and excitement.”

She brought a special combination of insightful feedback, practical tools and resources, and a deep sense of warmth and connection. Stacey took the time to thoughtfully review each of my coaching sessions, offering guidance that truly helped me evolve and deepen my practice. Her consistent positivity, affirmation, and expert role modeling made every interaction valuable and inspiring. If you’re looking to grow as a coach, I highly recommend partnering with Stacey—her expertise and presence make all the difference. Thank you!”
